    North Songs

My first collection of poems is called North Songs because I wrote them while living in mining communities in the Canadian north. Living in Pickle Lake, a small mining community, at that time of 850 people, in North-western Ontario, I became highly stressed, and suddenly the first poem flowed out of my mind. As a form of escapism, my creative mind continued to write these poems. After I moved to Stewart, BC, more followed.

  • Eagle in the Morning Sky

This poem was written in Vancouver, BC. I was attending a New Age event, and the facilitator took us through an exercise which caused my imagination to throw up a vivid picture in my mind. It was of a morning sky at dawning. In the distance there was a mountain range, with the background of the flaming sky. I was hovering high up above everything, like a bird. There and then, my subconscious mind began the poem, and I worked on it over the next few days to complete it.

  • The Call

I was living in Pickle Lake, North-western Ontario, and had been studying the Tarot cards for a number of weeks, deciphering their meaning. Suddenly, one evening, this poem began to flow from my subconscious mind. I thought it was the preface to The Butterfly People, my interpretation of the meaning of the Tarot cards, but it also is a stand-along piece.

  • Love Songs

In 1999, these poems were written in Edmonton, Canada, during a time of great trauma in my life.

My husband was very sick, and close to dying. He died shortly afterwards.
