The Hanged Man

Can we bear the pain as we labour to mold ourselves to be the best we can be as shown in The Hanged Man, card 12, to bring to life the beautiful butterfly person we are meant to be?

Odin hung on Yggdrasil tree nine windy days and nine dark nights

That sacred Ash, at the centre of all things

Holder of sacred secrets, hidden knowledge, and mysteries

Left leg crossed behind right, in self-imposed suffering

Odin was a desperate seeker of Wisdom

Seeker of the Power that seems like Magic

Which comes from Knowledge

Around your head the golden halo of Enlightenment

Blue tunic of perfection of human nature

Flame-orange pants of the continuing journey

Purple-bead girdle of Wisdom

The brown boots of Stability and Reliability

All set into the mauve sea of Fulfilled Dreams

Beyond the Tree of Life where is found Immortality

Nine days and nights of intense struggle

As preconceived ideas and ideologies were discarded

As the Past was examined, then laid to rest

The Present became Real, and was accepted as It is

The Future seen as in a dream, darkly

As Duty and the Choice is accepted

To become Ruler of Self and the World
